Mr. Tran Phu Son

Mr.Tran Phu Son, an Australia Awards Scholarships alumnus 2001, is currently a Partner of Ernst & Young Vietnam (EY Vietnam). He completed a Master of Practising Accounting at Monash University in 2002.

Mr. Son is a member of CPA Australia and Vietnam Association of CPA. He also served as the Chairman of Advisory Committee to CPA Australia in Vietnam for the period from 2007 to 2012.

Being the Assurance Leader in EY Hanoi Office, Mr. Son has led many audit engagements for key clients of EY including large SOEs, domestic and international companies in various industries, such as real estate and hospitality, manufacturing, garments and entertainment. He was also in charge of a number of audit and financial consultancies for development projects in Vietnam sponsored by the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), and a number of other international development agencies.

Mr. Son is an active speaker in seminars and conferences on audit and financial issues and sustainable development for CEO’s and Chief Financial Officers, especially of listed companies in Vietnam. He also gives lectures to EY Vietnam’s audit staff and students at some top universities in Vietnam.

In 2011, he won the Australian Alumni Award for Business Leadership, sponsored by the University of Western Sydney and was honored by the Australian Embassy in Hanoi and the Vietnamese Graduates from Australian Club (VGAC) for major contributions to business development to Vietnam.

“When I was in Australia I had a very good opportunity to strengthen my knowledge of accounting and audit practices, particularly I had hands-on experiences with international accounting and auditing standards. Also, I was able to understand the reality in a developed country where the role of accounting and auditing is very important , on how they use auditing reports, auditors and other auditing services,” Mr. Son said.
