Australian Alumni ready to contribute to the country

Education & Times – On August 19, the Australian Embassy and the Aus4Skills Program held a ceremony to welcome home 38 Australia Awards returnees. At the event, graduation certificates were awarded to the returning Australia Awards scholars.

Mr. Mark Tattersall – Deputy Australian Ambassador to Vietnam and Mr. Pham Quang Hung – Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Education and Training) jointly presented the certificate of completion of the Australia Awards Scholarship program to Nguyen Thi Yen Anh.

At the event, Mr. Pham Quang Hung – Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Education and Training) was pleased to welcome four PhDs and 34 Masters graduates, who have just graduated from prestigious Australian universities and returned home.

“These students have worked hard and overcame their barriers to obtain a doctorate and master’s degree and return home”, Mr. Hung acknowledged. He expressed his belief that, despite being educated in different professions, the common goal of these returnees is to serve their homeland, and contribute to the development of Vietnam.

Recently, the Department of International Cooperation has carried out many collaborative activities with embassies in education and training. The Vietnamese government has sent students to study in many countries around the world.

According to Mr. Hung, a survey shows that, receiving a scholarship to study abroad is a point of pride and a turning point in life for international students. Scholarships offer them the opportunity to improve their qualifications, capacity, working and problem-solving skills. A majority of overseas-educated scholars have scientific articles published in prestigious national and international journals.

Many of them work in higher education institutions and make positive contributions to improving training quality as well as promoting international cooperation.

Mr. Hung believes that the skills and knowledge gained from studying in Australia will enable alumni to directly contribute to their workplace, and to the development of the whole country.
