Visa Application

All awardees will attend the visa and travel briefing to be updated on the visa and health examination requirements.

Health examination

Awardees are then required to complete the My Health Declaration and provide the Health Assessment Portal ID (HAP ID) to Aus4Skills. Upon receipt of required information, Aus4Skills will arrange the health examination and inform awardees of the date and time.

Date and time

  • Examination is normally conducted in April for semester 1 commencement and in August/September for semester 2 commencement.
  • The health examination takes around 30 minutes
  • Conditional awardees should come at the specified time and date as advised by Aus4Skills. It is advised that conditional awardees should be present at the clinic 15 minutes to half an hour prior to the appointment time.

Dos and Don’ts

  • Attendance at the examinations is compulsory for Australia Awards Scholarship conditional awardees
  • Make sure to drink plenty of water before the test
  • Please bring glasses with you (if any)
  • Fasting is not necessary


  • original passport
  • an eMedical referral letter, a Health Examinations list or other equivalent documentation provided to you by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection
  • your prescription spectacles or contact lenses (if applicable)
  • existing specialist and/or other relevant medical reports for known medical coditions
  • any previous ches x-rays 

Visa application 

Australia Awards awardees apply for Student visa (subclass 500) - Foreign Affairs and Defence sector. You must apply for this visa online. After you have gathered and scanned the documents that support your application, create an Immiaccount and apply for your student visa with online application system.

Required documents include:

  1. Online visa application form
  2. Color scan of your original passport bio-data page and each page that has a visa label and entry/exit stamps for Australia or another country. Passports must be valid for at least a further 6 months.
  3. DFAT letter of support (provided by Aus4Skills on behalf of applicant)
  4. Form 956 - Advice by a migration agent/exempt person of providing immigration assistance.


  • Remember to answer all required questions accurately and honestly 
  • Please inform Aus4Skills by email if any information you declared in your visa application has changed after you submitted it to Aus4Skills (i.e: marital status)
  • Do not try to conceal or falsify information as the consequences could be serious.
